End Grain Boards are more durable and will keep your knives sharper longer. An end-grain board also has a very fibrous cutting surface, so a knife’s edge is likely to sink into the wood fibers while you are cutting. The end grain allows the knife to pass through leaving less of a cut line behind on the board. End grain has been described as “self healing” since small cuts on the surface of the board will close back up to some degree.
Each cutting board is made by hand from the highest quality, hand selected lumber. The lumber dictates the project and therefore each board will have a different look, its own unique characteristic, and size.
All boards are made with non-toxic, FDA approved, and environmentally safe waterproof glue and finished with food safe butcher block oil.
Hand wash only. Never submerge in water. Do not put in dishwasher. Do not let it soak; soaking will make it split and warp. Do not put it in a microwave.
Rinse your wooden board under hot water. Wipe it dry immediately with a tea towel, and let it air-dry. This prevents the water from permeating the wood that causes the wood fibers to swell and then warp your board.
Oil the board periodically to prevent cracking, to repel food particles, and prevent board from being stained. Use only mineral oil other oils may become rancid or attract unwanted insects.
